New beginnings always start with a seed. In this case the seed was planted way to many years before and took quite some time to hatch. We had a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 and finished a 15 year restoration period, to bring the car to its original concourse state. Every cent we ever had went into this process while raising 3 kids as well.
The finished product did not give us as much satisfaction as we imagined. A concourse car can never be left alone. You can drive it somewhere, but you can’t get out to get a cup of coffee or anything else. At least that is what we experienced. We wanted to get back to when we just bought the car and had all the fun of the world with it.
In the spring of this 2016 we sold the Mach 1 and bought our Orange Bomb, a 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster. It had just been imported from Modesto, California and was just waiting for us. New beginnings could start. This time no 15 year restoration to concourse state, but the fun of building a car the way we want it. Of course this might take some time also, but this time we will make sure we can enjoy both the process and the finished product.
